Neva Jo Ice was born to Lawrence and Eva Barton on Feb 2nd, 1930. She was one of eight children in the long white house on the corner in Apache, OK. There she lived until she married Jack D. Ice in 1946. Together they celebrated 52 years of marriage, five children, eleven grandchildren and eight great- grandchildren. Wickline Methodist Church was their church home for many years where Neva worked in the Mother’s Day Out program and spent Sunday mornings caring for even more children in the nursery. In her later years, she worked with the ladies at the MWC Food Pantry, and was proud to be part of an organization which helped others in such a meaningful way. But then, that was how she lived her life. Through the artistic way she cooked delicious meals (and snowman pancakes), arranged and rearranged her home, sewed delightful clothes for her four daughters, cleverly decorated Santas, and made good use of her green thumb, she made our world a more wondrous place to live. A marvelous gift was given to Neva in her last few years as she lived with and was cared for by her daughter, Victoria, and son-in-law, Bill.
Neva was preceded in death by her husband, Jack, and son, Paul D. Ice. She leaves behind her children Victoria Cornett and husband, Bill; Jan Ice; Susan Wilson and husband, John; Kay Fulton and husband, Jim.
The woman we used to try to keep pace with as children, as we were ten steps behind, once again has shown each of us, and others, the path of a life well lived by love.
A remembrance of her life will be held at the Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home in Del City, 5005 SE 29th Street, on Wed. 13th at 2:00. The burial will be Thurs. 14th at 11:00, Fairview Cemetery, in Apache, OK. Arrangements under the direction of Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home, Del City, Oklahoma.
