

At the young age of 18, Nicholas joined the Merchant Marines and this would be the beginning of a lifelong military career. August 1, 1970 he retired from the United States Air Force, after 22 years of faithful service to his country. He decided to continue working at Tinker AFB as a journeyman and would later retire from the civil service. Nicholas enjoyed watching the Lawrence Welk Show, building trains, listening to big band music, spending time with his family and spoiled pups (Daisy Mae and Chico). Nicholas loved the snow and had a passion for his country.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Annie; and 11 siblings. Survivors include his children, Nicholas Lazzaro, Jr., Robert Lazzaro (Melynn), Julie Haynes (William), John Lazzaro; grandchildren, Robert K. Johnson, Kathryn and Irisjade Conley-Lazzaro, Maggie Lazzaro, Billy and Raymond Haynes, and Michael and Joey Lazzaro; sister, Tina Loope (Doug); and numerous great-grandchildren and extended family and friends who will miss him dearly.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, December 22, 2014 at the Bill Eisenhour Southeast Chapel. Full military honors will follow at Arlington Memory Gardens. Condolences may be offered at www.eisenhourfuneral.com
