Onetta "Nita" Parnell Read

Nita was retired from Western Electric where she worked for over 30 years. She loved to have a good time. In her earlier years she could be found dancing the night away. She loved Elvis Presley, traveling, cooking and gardening, but her greatest love was her family. Nita will be remembered most by her strength and resiliency, but she will also be remembered by her steak dinners, homemade (homegrown) strawberry ice cream and beautiful flowers.

She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, husband John Read and son Richard Thomas. Survivors include children, Tim Thomas, Sarah Thomas-Dolan and husband David Dolan, Jerry Read, Jeanne Wall, Linda Read and Jimmie Read; grandchildren, Kristin Kurtz, Samantha Williams, Chase Dolan, Caleb Thomas, Rance Read, Roxanne Frederick, Judson Gamble, Jenifer Wobus and Elizabeth Read-Romito; and thirteen great grandchildren.

A ceremony to celebrate Nita’s beautiful life will be held at Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 19, 2023 at 2:00 p.m followed by her burial at Arlington Memory Gardens.
