

Phyloria “Elouise” Carpenter, 81, of Oklahoma City, passed away June 10, 2016 after a long illness. She was born June 24, 1934 in Carney, Lincoln County, Oklahoma, the second of 4 children of Manuel and Arvilla Savage. She loved playing basketball at Carney High School. She attended Draughn Business School in Oklahoma City after high school for one year. She married Harold Don Carpenter in May, 1954. They began their married life in the army in El Paso, Texas, where Lee was born. After their time in the army they moved back to Oklahoma City, where Ginny, Carol and Tim were born. After Tim began kindergarten she went to work at Del City Police Department as a dispatcher. She then moved to Midwest City Police Department as a dispatcher and records clerk. Harold Don and Elouise both enjoyed bowling, and Elouise encouraged her children to bowl by starting them in the youth leagues, with her as coach, while continuing in the adult leagues. She was an excellent bowler, travelling to tournaments all over the country and eventually joined the staff at Sunnylanes Bowl. She went from there to Holiday Bowl, Penn 44 and 66 Bowl. After an injury to her wrist ended her bowling career she began work at Classic Sportswear in the production of sportswear. When the company shut down she attended classes at Rose State to learn computer skills, then went to work at the Oklahoma City Public Housing Authority, from which she retired in 2003. Elouise enjoyed time with her children and grandchildren, as well as bingo and slot machines at the casinos. She is survived by her children, Harold Lee of Maud, OK, Ginny of Hayward, CA, and Tim and Tonya of Midwest City, 6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Harold Don and her daughter, Carol Moore. Services will be June 15, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Bill Eisenhour Southeast Chapel, Del City, Oklahoma with interment at Carney Cemetery June 17, 2016.
