Reggie was born in St. John’s, Newfoundland, Canada and was one of 7 children born to his mother, Ruth, and father, Brian. Upon the death of his father at a young age, his brother-in-law, Jerry Amend and sister, Shirley Amend, graciously committed to raising Reggie as one of their own. He was considered the oldest of their 4 children. Reggie resided in multiple states due to Jerry being in the US Air Force, but eventually the family found a permanent home in Oklahoma City near Tinker Air Force Base.
In 1970, Reggie became a member of the United States Air Force and served in the Vietnam War. While there, he met the love of his life, Giau “Mai” Nguyen. They married in Vietnam and traveled back to the states to start a new chapter. He and Mai had their first daughter, Angie, in 1974, and their second daughter, Deborah, in 1980. After being honorably discharged, Reggie worked for the Santa Fe Railroad Company for a few years before becoming a civilian mechanic at Tinker Air Force Base. He retired December 31, 2018.
Everyone who had the pleasure of knowing Reg would agree he was simply a great guy. Selfless, hardworking, and humble, he treasured his family and friends. He leaves behind his wife, Mai, daughter Angie Siegel, Jeff and their son Jarrett; daughter Deborah Jobes, her husband Bobby and their children Keira, Boston, and Maric; his brother Toney Amend, his wife Abbie and their children Dylan and Sophie; his sister Debbie Robinson, her husband Darrell, and their daughter Kendra and her husband Bryan and their child Grady; his brother Brian Amend, his wife Johanna, and their children Karina and fiancé Dylon, Alec, and B.A.; his family members in Canada, and lastly his father, Jerry Amend. He is preceded in death by his mother, Shirley Amend.
