Richard "Ricky" Joe Pilant

December 20, 1953May 11, 2020

Ricky as he liked to be called by his family and friends was a very unique and special guy. Ricky grew up in Del City, Oklahoma. I guess you could say Oklahoma was Ricky’s home, he only left twice, once when he joined the Army in 1973 and once to visit Colorado when he was just a young boy. Ricky loved the outdoors. When he was a boy, he could always be found either by the local pond fishing or in the woods hunting; to Ricky it didn’t matter, as long as he was outdoors. That didn’t change much when grew up. Most nights and weekends he could be found at the same ponds and woods he visited as a boy. Ricky enjoyed carpentry, he was an expert at cabinet making and fine finish work. Ricky graduated from Del City High in 1971 where he excelled in both academics and sports. He pitched for the local baseball team and usually batted cleanup, always first to be picked for any team sport. Ricky joined the Army in 1973 and was stationed at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma for 3 years. After his discharge from the army he worked for General Motors and then as a subcontractor for Oklahoma University. Ricky had a very unique personality, one of the most honest individuals you will ever meet; he was also amazingly blunt and outspoken. He lived life on his own terms. As a close friend once said about him, he was a free spirit. He was kind, compassionate and a good friend. Ricky is survived by his brothers David, Bruce and Tony.

Rick was a very kind soul and he was happiest hunting and fishing.
Life played a cruel joke and took those joys away from him. I am so glad we had a family dinner in April 2019 and got to know you better. RIP. You are missed.
