Ricky was born on June 16, 1949 in Talihina, Oklahoma at Talihina hospital.
Ricky was a graduate of U.S. Grant High school in Oklahoma City and went to college in Weatherford, Oklahoma. Ricky was a terrific wrestler and was even given a full scholarship to Oklahoma State University. He often joked about how he just couldn’t do it because he was a SOONER!
Ricky also served 6 years in the Army Reserves. Ricky worked primarily in the oilfield as a parts specialist. Ricky married Debbie on December 30, 1977 and considered that to be one of his proudest moments in his life along with his children Kevin, LeeAnne, and Zachary.
He loved all his family, his grandchildren Corey, Codey, Blake, Dakota, Haley Dawn, Isabella, and Parker Chase. Ricky enjoyed watching his Oklahoma Sooners and OKC Thunder. He loved music and going to concerts, spending time with his family, going on camping trips, and firing up his charcoal grill.
He loved his cat (Katos) and his dog (Ofi) and he sure missed them, I know they missed him. I would make videos of them to take to the hospital so he could see them & even put him on speaker phone to talk with them.
Ricky was very proud of his Choctaw heritage and learning the language and was always trying to learn more.
Ricky was preceded in death by his wife Deborah Anne Eastep (Debbie), son Kevin Wayne Eastep, and grandparents Ned and Sis Sockey.
Ricky is survived by his mother Bernice Dreadfulwater of OKC, his daughter LeeAnne Cooksey and husband Brent Cooksey of El Reno, OK, his son Zachary Eastep of Oklahoma. Also surviving are his grandchildren Corey, Codey, Blake, Parker Chase, and Dakota & Whitley Cooksey along with numerous other relatives and many dear friends.
Special thanks to his friends Steve Maupin, Dennis Demoe & the U.S. Grant Alumni class of 1967, who supported my daddy in prayer and spirit as well as Sherry Bene who kept prayer requests and gave updates during his hospital stay.
