Rita Faye Smith was born on January 29, 1939 in Oklahoma City, OK to Harry Lewis McGruder and Pearl Gregory McDowell. She grew up with 10 siblings, so it was a busy household. She was an LPN for a nursing home for many years, and lived in Oklahoma City for her whole life.
She loved nature, fishing, bowling, and all animals. Most of all, she loved her family and grandkids. She always made sure that she had lots of candy, cookies, and ice cream at hand when anyone in the family came by. She was a very caring person, and always put others before herself. She raised her children the same way that she was raised: to be loving, kind, and caring to all people and animals. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Harry Lewis and Pearl Gregory; and husbands, Frankie Chin and Gayle Madison.
She is survived by her husband, Melvin Smith; children, Bessie, Flora Ann, Gaylon, Tina, and Cheryl; grandchildren, Tony, Kevin, Justin, James, Jeramy, Megan, and Angel; great-grandchildren, Tyler, MaKyna, Illias, Peyton, Memphys, Isabella, Jayce, Bailey, and Vincent; and many other family and friends.
