Rosalie Elliott passed away in Oklahoma City on Friday, February 8, 2019, after a three year battle with Lewy Body Dementia. She was born June 23, 1932 near Mishak, OK, to John and Rose Zaloudik. She grew up on the family farm in Oklahoma, but quickly began to travel the world after marrying her first husband, Frank Wilson June 9, 1956. As Frank was in the Air Force, they built a family amidst their travels to various stations comprised of three children; David, Frances and John. When Frank retired, they returned to Oklahoma to be near her family. Several years after Frank’s passing, she met her second husband, Joe Elliott, at church. They married in 1989, her family expanded to include Joe’s children and grandchildren in addition to the grandchildren she had, and they had many years of happiness enjoying retirement and continuing to travel prior to his passing. Rosalie was very proud of her family which also includes innumerable siblings, cousins, nieces, and nephews, both in the United States and the Czech Republic.
Rosalie graduated from Midwest City High School in 1950 and went to work at the telephone company in OKC with her sisters. After marrying Frank, she dedicated her life to being a military wife and mother while continuing to further her education and work intermittently in accounting. Upon resettling in Oklahoma, Rosalie worked at Rose State College and the State Regents for Higher Education. After retirement, she remained active in the Teacher’s Retirement Association with a high value on education.
For entertainment, she and her siblings enjoyed Saturday night dances at Czech Hall in Yukon. She met Frank at one such dance, taught her children and grandchildren to polka and chicken dance, and continued to enjoy these events until late in life. She was an active member of the Oklahoma Retired Citizens Travel Club in addition to her independently planned trips around the country with family and friends – many of which she had maintained from her life in the military. She was a pillar of St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Del City, serving in nearly every committee including the choir. She could be found at each school and sporting event of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was interested in a wide variety of hobbies, crafts, and cultural activities. She would gladly lend a hand to anyone she thought she could help.
She is survived by her daughter, Frances (Steve) Greenwood and son, John (Jeananne) Wilson; grandchildren Lindsey Greenwood, Amber Roberts, Shelly Wilson, Jacob Wilson, and Jessica Wilson; great-grandson Logan Roberts; siblings Elizabeth (Max) Kolar, Lillian ( Stanley) Kolar, Mary Ann Nickel, Amalie (Neil) Wilson, Paul ( Cathy) Zaloudik; expanded family Joe (Diane) Elliott, Jeff (Janna) Elliott, Dawn Elliott-Stacey, Tracy Mackerelle, Andy Elliott, Jeffery Elliott, Timothy Elliott, Joey Elliott; and numerous nieces, nephews, and relatives.
