

Roy W. Lingo passed away on November 12, 2025, at the age of 87. He was born August 10, 1938, in Palmyra, MO to Claude and Ester Rose Lingo. Claude relocated to Tulsa, OK where Roy grew up and attended University of Tulsa, where he graduated with his bachelor’s degree and lettered in baseball.
Roy then enlisted in the United States Air Force (USAF) on November 3, 1963, during the Vietnam War where he oversaw the crew for the AWACS plane. Roy was then sent to Washington State, when he met the love of his life Sharon Pederson. They were married November 15, 1971, and were relocated to Arizona where they welcomed their son Lonnie L. Lingo in 1974.
Shortly after, Roy was relocated to Tinker Air Force Base (TAFB) in Oklahoma where his family lived while Roy continued serving in the military. During this time Roy played in many golf tournaments where he earned many awards.
His wife Sharon fell ill, and in 1987 passed away. In 1988 Roy decided to retire after serving 25 years in the Air Force on May 31st, 1988, to be with his son Lonnie. By this time Roy held the title of Lieutenant Colonel and achieved his master’s degree in education.
Roy lived his retirement years playing golf at TAFB and enjoyed attending Lonnie’s basketball and soccer games.
Roy was a very quiet individual in the public eyes. Many called him either Roy, Bill, or Mr. King.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife Sharon.
Roy is survived by his son Lonnie, daughter-in-law Wendy, granddaughters Leah and Amber, great-grandchildren Lily and Leon.
