

Ruth Carolyn (Winters) Epperly went home to be with the Lord on December 16, 2025 at the age of 91. She was born on June 27, 1934 in Stringtown, OK. She was the youngest of five children to Thomas Joseph Winters and Dora Mae (Terry) Winters. She married Roger David Epperly on August 15, 1959 in Stringtown, OK at the First Presbyterian Church. They were married for 66 years. Ruth was a sweet and caring wife, mother and grandmother. Ruth loved spending time with her family, working in the yard, attending church and monthly luncheons with her retired teacher group. She was a life long member of the Presbyterian Church.
Following her graduation from Southeastern State University in Durant, she taught for 31 years (4 years in Oklahoma City-Foster and Chester Arthur Elementary, then 2.5 years at Epperly Heights and 24.5 years at Cleveland Bailey Elementary in Mid-Del).
Teaching children reading and math skills was her passion.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, one sister Mary Lou (Winters) Vegher, one brother Tommy Joe Winters and four nephews David and Tommy Hutchins and Chris and Joey Winters.
She is survived by three sons Roger David Jr. and his wife Vonda of Oklahoma City, OK, Robert and his wife Susan of Oklahoma City, OK, Randy and his wife Rachel of Shawnee, OK, seven grandchildren Tyler, Erin, Ellen, Hanna, John, Ryan, Rebekah, and five Great Grandchildren Tristan, Jude, Baker, Mason & Rynlee, brother Eddie Mark Winters and his wife Judy of Farmington, NM, sister Ina Mae Suydam of Norman, OK, Ruth’s only niece Susan (Vegher) Miller and her husband Bill of Moore, OK, nephews Bill Winters of Shawnee, OK, Mark Winters of Farmington, NM, and Patrick Winters of Las Vegas, NV, and many special friends in her life.
Funeral service will be held at Bill Eisenhour at Sunny Lane Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 23rd at 10am with burial immediately following at Sunny Lane Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Midwest City, OK.
