Ruth Kennedy

Ruth Ellen Kennedy, 86, passed away on January 27, 2012. Ruth was born January 11, 1926 in Millerton, OK to Arthur and Kizze (Brunson) McElrath. Ruth grew up around the Broken Bow area, graduating in 1944 from Valliant High School. She loved her family and especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, and attending OU football games with her daughter. Her family will tell you that Ruth was an amazing cook, making the best fried chicken and turkey dressing! These last few years, she has not been able to attend church due to her declining health, but that would never stop Ruth from her daily prayers.

She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, James Thomas Kennedy and second husband, Howard Williams. Survivors include her children, James T. Kennedy (Thelma), Donald W. Kennedy (Shirley), Ruth E. Wilson; siblings, George McElrath (Jane), Dimple Holly; grandchildren, Kim, James, Kelley, Denise, Darra, Michael, Cheryl, Hywell, Robert, Derreck; and a host of great and great-great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, February 3, 2012 at the Arlington Memory Gardens. Visitation will be Wednesday and Thursday 8:00 am-5:00 pm. at Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home, 5005 S.E. 29th Street, Del City. OK. Condolences may be offered at www.eisenhourfuneral.com
