Sharon Lea Garcia

Sharon Lea Garcia, age 83, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma passed away on Sunday, June 16, 2024. Sharon was born in Council Bluffs, Iowa on February 14, 1941 to Luis and Marjorie Vargas. Sharon was the oldest of 2 girls.

Sharon met Joe Garcia in Omaha, Nebraska, and married him on October 9th, 1965 in California. Joe was active duty Air Force and Sharon was a dutiful military wife. They lived in Ankara, Turkey and Wiesbaden, Germany, where she worked Civil Service in both countries. In 1973, they returned to the states and were stationed at Tinker AFB, Midwest City, OK.

Sharon started her retail career with Montgomery Wards at Crossroads mall in 1973. In 1974, she transferred to JC Penney, and retired in 2016 after 42 years of service.

Sharon loved to work outside. Spring, Summer and Fall, you could find her working in the yard planting.

Joe and Sharon have 3 children, 9 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Her grandchildren were the loves of her life.

Sharon is preceded in death by her parents, Luis and Marjorie Vargas; and her sister, Marsha Ellis.

She is survived by her husband, Joe Garcia of 58 years; Daughter Yvonne Waggoner and husband Brian, OKC OK; Son Brian Garcia, OKC, OK; Son Kevin Garcia and wife Heather, Moore, OK; Grandchildren: Keri Waggoner, Edmond, OK, Eric Waggoner, his wife Alexis and their son, Weston, Edmond, OK, Krista Waggoner, OKC, OK, Kyle Garcia and his wife Hannah and their daughter, Reya, Nicoma Park, OK, Blake Garcia, Del City, OK, Julie Garcia, Del City, OK, Kael Garcia, Norman, OK, Connor Garcia, Norman, OK, and Alaina Garcia, Norman, OK.

A visitation for Sharon will be held Tuesday, June 25, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Sunny Lane Funeral Home, 4000 SE 29th Street, Del City, OK 73115. A funeral service will occur Wednesday, June 26, 2024 at 10:00 AM at St Paul's The Apostle Catholic Church, 3901 S Sunnylane Rd, Del City, OK 73115.
