At 26 years young, Taylor Clinton Lewis, also known as “Big Lew”, left this earth and returned home on Monday, April 27, 2020, in Oklahoma City, OK. Taylor was born on December 28, 1993, in Oklahoma City, OK to Charles and Ashly Lewis.
If you looked up the definition of ‘Moore Strong’, you could find Taylor’s grinning face. While attending Moore High School, Taylor excelled at all sports including football, track, and wrestling. His pride of representing the Lions was infectious and there wasn’t a student or faculty member who didn’t know the name Taylor “Big Lew” Lewis.
Taylor went on to serve his country and joined the United States Marine Corps. When he graduated boot camp in 2014, it really was one of his proudest moments. And in true Big Lew fashion, his race to be the best began. His USMC brothers describe Lew as a man who always stood out in a crowd. He always greeted them with a smile and pushed them to always be ambitious and work hard.
That drive didn’t stop at his USMC brothers, he brought that out in everyone who had the opportunity of knowing him, even strangers. Taylor was an extrovert and was never shy about encouraging others to be driven, especially in the gym. It didn’t matter if you were a high ranking officer or a young woman who he had his eye on, adding to your weight or correcting your form was his second language.
Taylor was a hard-worker through and through, but when he wasn’t working, you could always find him playing or watching football, golfing, working out, playing with his dogs, Baylee and Patches, or serving his country. But even if it wasn’t his hobby, Taylor’s knack for being the best at something always came through. He was ridiculously good at basically anything he tried. He was fluent in sarcasm and too charming for his own good, he loved people and made a new friend everywhere he went.
To his family, friends, and his community, many illustrate Big Lew as their rock. He is the person you go to when you need guidance. He is the person you call when you wanted someone to laugh with. He is the person you ask to be your accountability partner. Big Lew was many thing to many people – a son, brother, boyfriend, uncle, and friend. The rock for so many, he was an incredible source of strength; a fiery, compassionate, and extremely loving person, who touched everyone he met. His passion for life and energy will never be replaced.
Taylor is survived by his father, Charles Lewis and wife, Brandi of Moore, OK; mother, Ashly Lewis (Lack) of Moore, OK; brothers, Taylor Smith and wife Nimsi of Quantico, VA, and Hayden Kemp of San Diego, CA; sisters, Tori Leisinger and husband, Brandon of Choctaw, OK, Morgan Kemp of Norman, OK, and Sara Lewis of Moore, OK; niece, Bexley Leisinger of Choctaw, OK; nephews, Nash Leisinger of Choctaw, OK, and Xavier Lewis of Moore, OK; and girlfriend Sara Gurchinoff of Moore, OK. Taylor also leaves behind his grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins to cherish his memory.
Rest easy Big Lew and fly high.
