He and his twin sister were born August 14, 2001 in Midwest City to Steven and Alicia Maupin. He quickly earned the name "Superman" because Taylor was always beating the medical odds placed before him.
Taylor received home therapy through Sooner Start at two months. The family learned how to help teach him to do physical activity. Speech and walking were his two favorites.
At age three he began attending a small school in The Village area of Oklahoma City , Andrew Johnson Elementary. He greatly loved the color green, all his friends at school, and briefly being a member of The Village Olympians (Special Olympics) bowling team. He was also a 3 time recipient of the Kiwanis Club Terrific Kid Award.
After completing Kindergarten he began attending school at The Children's Center where he was quite accomplished at using assistive devices. The Children's Center quickly became a beloved home for him where it was a pj party all the time. He was very social and loved to be surrounded with his friends and the staff.
Family vacations were a favorite of Taylor's. He traveled to Chicago where he saw the King Tut exhibit, and Sue the dinosaur at the Field Museum. Other vacation spots include a family reunion in Arkansas, Spring Break in Santa Fe, New Mexico, Texas, and lots of weekends at the cabin and on the boat at Lake Tenkiller, where he also loved to sit outside early in the morning and listen to the birds.
Taylor loved books on tape, his turtle collection, music, sports, super heroes and physical activity.
Taylor was a amazing boy who will be greatly missed.
The family wishes to thank the numerous teachers, therapists and medical staff that made his life wonderful.
He is survived by his twin sister Annie, father and mother, Grandparents Allen and Libby Curry, Steve and Sherry Maupin. Great-Grandparents John and Lorene Maupin, Great-Grandmothers Frances Curry, Lou Prufert, and Louise Smith, uncles, aunts, great-aunts, cousins and countless other family members and friends.
