She worked for many years as a cook for Rose Elementary School. Thelma enjoyed crocheting, bowling and word search books. She was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband of 63 years, Oliver W. Holmes, Sr.; and daughter, Wanda Marzell Holmes. Survivors include her children, Janacine Louise Rogers, Oliver Wendell Holmes, Jr. (Judy), George Holmes (Karla), Donald Holmes (Deborah); grandchildren, Travis and Troy Smith, Anthony Rogers, Lacee McLaughlin, Stephen Corey Holmes (Brandi), Julie Kristen Murcer (Deric), Brandon Allen Holmes, Jared Lance Holmes, Dedra Holmes, Delon Holmes; 10 great-grandchildren; brothers, Casper Simpson, Benny Simpson (Rosalee), Raymond and Charlie Simpson.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, April 28, 2014 at the Bill Eisenhour Southeast Chapel. Interment will follow at Sunny Lane Cemetery. Condolences may be offered at www.eisenhourfuneral.com
