Thomas Edward (Ed) Brown was born July 4th, 1925 in Foss, Oklahoma to Jesse and Buena Brown. He left for His heavenly home on April 24th, 2014.

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Betty (Blough) and his siblings, Samuel (Sam) Clayton Brown, Bernice Ellis, Jay Brown, Lowell Brown, Grace Brown and baby Ruth Brown. He is survived by his son, Tim, daughter-in-law, Vicki and his granddaughter, Natalie Brown and by two precious sisters-in-law, Bobbie Blough and Gloria Brown and many beloved nieces, nephews and their children.

Ed grew up in Burns Flat, Oklahoma and graduated from Burns Flat High School in 1942. Ed was raised on a farm during the Great Depression and Dust Bowl which served to teach him the value of a dollar and gave him grit and determination to finish a job. He loved playing sports and was a natural athlete. He learned to type in high school but always said that his hands were so bruised and torn up by farm work and sports that he could only type 50 words per minute. When WWII was declared he tried to sign up to join the military but was deferred at his mother’s request until his older brother could return. He served in the U.S. Army in the Japanese Occupation Force and went to Southwestern College in order to earn a diploma as an auto mechanic. He married Betty in May of 1949 to begin what would be 64 years together. He was always comfortable and felt at home if he was with Betty. They moved to Tulsa where Ed was employed at Titan Manufacturing where he worked as an electrician. He applied for work at Tinker Air Force Base and began working there in 1954. Ed worked in various jobs over the years at Tinker including electronic test equipment repair and measuring radiation from various nuclear test sources. He worked at Tinker for 30 years and retired in 1984. Ed was an avid reader of Westerns, loved to putter with his car, was treasurer of a Citizen Band radio club during part of the 1960’s and was known to repair radios and televisions for friends and family. He also greatly enjoyed the relationships he had within his church family and enjoyed being with members of his Sunday School class. Although some of his life was hard he never let it harden him and was always available to family and friends with a sympathetic ear and sound advice. He is deeply missed by his family even though we are assured that we will meet again.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at the Meadowood Baptist Church in Midwest City. Interment will follow at Arlington Memory Gardens in Midwest City, OK.

I wasn't fortunate to meet Ed. I did however get to know him through Michael Proctor. I know if I would have had the pleasure of meeting him, I would have loved him. He sounded like a mixture of my dad, my Godfather Herb and my grandpa all mixed together. These were the 3 most important men in my life and they are now pain free, living in heaven with God and having a good time. I know from what Michael told me that Ed would fit in great with my 3 men.

I thank God I had the privilege to meet two precious people. The first time I met them I was 16 yrs old. They ask me to call them Aunt Betty and Uncle Ed.I was so delighted. I have been blessed by my family back east.
May you all feel the love and the presents of God the 4-29-2014. May Uncle Ed's testament ring out and bring healing to all souls. God is Good and Merciful.

Ed was my Uncle, and one of the kindest men I ever met. It gives me joy to know that he is in Heaven with his beloved Betty and his Lord, waiting to welcome the rest of us when our time comes.

Ed Brown was a magnificent person. Both his wife and him were the best friends anyone could ask for. Papa Brown, I most definitely be missed by me. Rest well.
