Velma Dell Rogers

May 10, 1917October 7, 2012

Our beloved Velma D. Rogers, age 95, of Oklahoma City, OK went to be with her Heavenly Father on October 7, 2012. She was an amazing woman that touched the hearts of many and will be greatly missed by all of her family and friends. Velma is survived by two daughters, Ernestine Pericola and Betty Judd of Edmond, and one son, William Keith Rogers of Oklahoma City; fourteen grandchildren, many great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and two great-great-great grandchildren as well as many nephews and nieces. One of her great passions in life was attending her little church, the Southern Temple Baptist Church on High Avenue in Oklahoma City where she had many friends. She replaced the church bell that had been stolen many years ago, the small bell still stands by the little church and rings each Sunday. Her other passion and hobby was working with stained glass, creating many unique pieces of art. Her works were featured in several shows around Oklahoma, and are dear family pieces that will be passed down for generations. Memorial services will be held Saturday, October 13, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at the Southern Temple Baptist Church, 1821 South High Avenue, Oklahoma City. Following the memorial service, there will be a graveside service at the Sunny Lane Cemetery, 4000 Southeast 29th Street, Del City. Services are under the direction of Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home, Del City.

To the Rogers family: This is a sad, sad time for you and I pray for strength and peaces for all of you! Grandma Rogers was a highlight in the family - I know that I loved and respected her so much! And Ryan is sad - he has very fond memories of Grandma Rogers! What an incredible loss! Take care, all of you!

In memory of my dear sweet grandma. I love you and will miss you. I thank you for such an amazing example of being a virtuous woman. Your words were always kind and your touch was always gentle. You were always so patient, calm, caring and concerned for those around you. My daddy always said, "you were a saint," and he was right! Give him a hug for me.
