Verna Stricklin

Verna Stricklin, 91, of Del City, Oklahoma peacefully drifted into the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on April 3, 2024, in Del City, Oklahoma. Verna was born on August 29, 1932, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Ora D. Nichols and Nellie (Stump) Nichols. Verna was raised and educated in Oklahoma City, where she attended and graduated from Central High School. Verna married the love of her life Albert Harvey Stricklin II on November 1, 1957, in Oklahoma City. The two were blessed with three children: Donald, Albert, and Penny. Verna and Al were married 27 years before his passing in 1984. Verna had a passion for helping people. She worked as a house manager in a home for children with special needs, as well as a pharmacy tech for a while. Verna was a hard worker and it showed in everything she did.

She was a devoted mother and Gigi, and her true passion was spending all the time she could with her family. Verna was strong-willed and an independent woman, she had an enormous heart and a wonderful sense of humor. She was generous, loyal, and brave. During her life, she faced many obstacles, but always overcame them with a smile on her face and a story to tell about it. She was clever and full of knowledge that she had gained through all her life experiences. She was a beautiful woman inside and out with a smile that could light up the whole room. She cared deeply for the people around her and made an impact on many lives. She will forever be missed.

Verna is preceded in death by her parents; Husband; Son, Donald Dee Stricklin; Brothers, OD Nichols, and James Nichols; Sisters, Jenny Vinyard and Penny Goodman.

Left to honor her loving memory are her daughter, Penny Oldham Hines and husband Matt; Son Albert Harvey Stricklin, III; Grandchildren, Mark “Pooh Bear” Stricklin, Harrison Oldham and wife Kelsey, and Jamie Weaver and husband Justin; Great- Grandchildren, Garrett Stricklin, Teddy Oldham, Berkeley Oldham, Brinlee Weaver, and Blake Weaver.
