She was preceded in death by her parents Fitzhugh Lee and Myrtle Lydia (Akin) Lancaster; two sisters, Patricia Guerin and Adda Bortz; and her husband of 27 years, Edward Hunter. She is now absent from the body and face to face with the Lord (1Corinthians 5:8) She accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal savior at an early age, and her Christian faith carried her throughout life. Verona was instrumental in the lives of her family; a dedicated and loving mother, and friend to all who knew her. She is survived by her siblings Faye Mathis, Beverly Huston, Lonnie "Pete" Lancaster; daughters, Marilyn Skogen and husband, Robert, Carolyn Lee Thomas and husband, Teddy; three step-daughters, Linda Walton, Victoria Ryan and Nancy Garner; five grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great grandchildren. Verona took great delight in her family. She enjoyed and continued to take trips with her sisters, celebrate birthdays and special occasions. Her house was always full of laughter and fond memories. We will mourn her passing even while knowing: God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall no longer be any more death; there shall no longer be any more mourning, or crying, or pain; for all the old things have passed away. (Rev.21:4). Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints (Psalm 116:15). Verona was a member of Meadowview Baptist Church and enjoyed the fellowship of her Sunday School Class. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at the Bill Eisenhour Southeast Chapel. Interment will follow at Sunny Lane Cemetery where she will lie at rest alongside her husband Edward. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Alzheimer's Association, P.O.
