Virgil was a decorated WWII veteran that stormed the beaches of Normandy. He was honored by the Oklahoma State Senate on May 10, 2010 for his service and it was declared Virgil Van Dyck day in the state of Oklahoma. He was an avid musician and loved to go dancing.
He is survived by his children Sandra Box, Roger Van Dyck, Frances Smith, Clark Van Dyck and Cynthia Faler; 15 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife Janice Van Dyck; his parents John F. and Miranda Jane Van Dyck; brothers Walter, John, Roland, Clarence, James, Leonard, Wilburn, and Allen; and one sister, Mary Lorene.
