Virginia Anne Nicholas passed away peacefully at the home of her daughter, Tracey, on February 25, 2021. She was born Virginia Anne Clayton to Robert James Clayton and Rose Ann (Abling) Clayton on September 29, 1924, in Enid, Oklahoma. She graduated from Enid High School in 1942 and married her husband of 65 years, Irwin Ray Nicholas, on June 26, 1949. She was a long-time member of Ridgecrest Church of Christ in Midwest City, Oklahoma. In her later years, she enjoyed painting, singing, and traveling with her husband in their RV to camp in Arizona and Colorado. Virginia was known for putting butter on absolutely everything, singing Christian hymns while working around the house, and never leaving home without first putting on a pair of fancy earrings. An artist since her teenage years, she became a talented oil painter who won several awards for her artwork during her retirement years. She is preceded in death by her husband Irwin, her daughter Gail Ann Hawkins, and her son-in-law Dale Lamar Hawkins. Virginia is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Tracey and Ward Romberger, three grandchildren, Cary Hawkins, Rikki Waters, and Ashley Lefebvre, and five great-grandchildren, Natalie Waters, Sean Lefebvre, Hadley Hawkins, Vincent Waters, and baby Holden Hawkins, who she met for the first time on Tuesday, February 23, 2021.
