William Golston

Mr. William J. Golston has 42 years, 8 months and 20 days. William began his federal career at Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma 15 April 1970 as a WG3501-01 Support worker, In the Aircraft Wash Rack. Mastering all task at the wash rack, he felt it was time to move-on.

January 1972, he was promoted to WG8602-05 Aircraft Engine Mechanic and assigned to the engine disassembly unit…while assigned in disassembly, he toned his skills as an Aircraft Engine Mechanic while working on the following engines; J75, J57, TF41, J79, TF30 and TF33.He volunteered to assist with the clean-up, the move and the re-establishment of the section to a new location. William at times would come to work wearing a three piece suit and would not get a touch of grease or ounce of oil on himself. After knowing the ins and outs of the engines listed above, he needed a new tasking.

January 1989, he was promoted to WG8602-09 and reported to his new assignment, Engine Test and Verification Flight

October 1992 til August 2003, his skills and technical knowledge aided in the set-up of the 2 level maintenance section in Final Prep for the T33P7A engines.

March 1996, he was promoted to WG8602-10 Aircraft Engine mechanical Work Inspector… during this time William has become one of the most dedicated inspectors, caring about the products he produces catching all quality escaped before reaching the customer. After the dust has settled, we will always be looking for Mr. William J. Golston, AKA “The TF33 Guru”

William always enjoys a tough game of dominoes, watching football and golf (hoping maybe to play a round of golf some day). His biggest value is to socializing with his family and friends. He was a member of the Dragons Club OKC, OK.

William is survived by his children; Brian Traylor (Audrey), Christopher Golston, Denise Golston (Glendora), James Golston, Justin Golston, (Elizabeth), Celisha Golston ( Alene), Sharleace Sango, 13 grandchildren , five great-grandchildren, four brothers; Lawrence and Vernon Golston, Clarence and Charles Gresham, Five sisters; Shirley Negahnquet, Helen Belonga, Ella Boyd, Ruthie Gresham, and Mariah Wilson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four children; Issac, Johnny, William Golston, and Jason Bell and four sisters; Fannie Golson, Anna Overstreet, Martha Henderson, Jennie Boone.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, August 11, 2018 at St. Luke Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Sunny Lane Cemetery. Visitation will be at 9:00 a.m. Friday, August 10, 2018, at the Sunny Lane Funeral Home.
