

He was the oldest of 11 children, Bill was the oldest by 4 minutes, and he enjoyed reminding his twin brother Edward of this often.
Bill grew up in Connersville, Indiana. At the age of 12 he got his first job as a golf caddy for Doc Saunders, this began his lifelong passion for the game of golf. In 1951 Bill joined the United States Army, and served 3 years. After returning home he decided to enlist in the United States Air Force. He proudly served his country for 25 years.
During his tour of duty in Prestwick, Scotland, Bill met his true love, Margaret Irvine. Bill and Margaret were married on 6 August 1960. Bill sadly passed away 2 days prior to their 64th anniversary. Bill and Margaret had three lovely children, William Phillip Jr, John Alvin and Wendy Elaine.
After retiring from the Air Force, Bill continued to serve his country at Tinker Air Force Base, OK. for the next 22 years. When not working, he could be found fishing in his boat at Lake Texoma or enjoying a round of golf.
He is survived by his wife Margaret, his son William and his wife Julie of Choctaw, OK; Daughter Wendy and her husband Jeffrey Slason of Del City; Grandsons Johnathon and wife Sarah; Justin Pruitt and wife Casey; Landen and wife Julianna. Along with many other loved ones.
He is preceded in death by his parents, son John, brothers Edward, Alvin, Doug, Joe and sisters Suzy, June Ann, Mable and Margaret.
Services will be held Saturday August 10th, 2024 at 10:30 at Sunnylane Baptist Church, 4500 SE 31st, Del City, OK. Following the funeral service will be a committal from 12:00pm to 12:30pm at Sunnylane Cemetery, 4000 SE 29th St.
