Yvonne passed away following complications from a hip fracture on August 2nd. She is survived by her two daughters, Carrie Sanger of Dallas and Sarah Hunnicutt of Silver Spring, Maryland. Married for 63 years, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Hunnicutt, in 2022, as well as her mother and father.
Yvonne was born to Clyde and Maxine Dixson in Oklahoma City and spent much of her life in Oklahoma. She graduated from Capitol Hill High School in 1957. She also attended what was at the time East Central University. Once married, Yvonne and Charles moved to many places, both before and after having children, including Utah, Connecticut, New Jersey, Arizona, California, Switzerland, Texas, and South Carolina before retiring to Oklahoma.
Yvonne loved traveling and experiencing new places, such as the Grand Canyon with her parents, Hawaii with her mother, Italy with her family, and London with friends. She most loved trying the new cuisines, as she was a wonderful cook, whose love came through every delicious dish she made.
A lifelong learner, she loved to read and go to the movies, and she tried her hand at many creative endeavors such as sewing her children’s clothes when they were little, chocolate-making (the family favorite), stained glass, ceramics and painting. Life is beautiful so she gardened, growing flowers, fruits and vegetables. Her favorite things to grow were daffodils and tomatoes, perhaps reminding her of her childhood on her Grandma Lemon’s farm.
Yvonne was active in church, serving in many capacities wherever she lived. She loved Bible studies, and her last membership was at Village Baptist Church in Oklahoma City.
She was a kind, loving, generous person beloved by all. She will be greatly missed.
Services will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at 2 p.m. at Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home at Sunny Lane Cemetery, 4000 S.E. 29th St., Del City, Oklahoma, 73115. Visitation will be held 4-8 p.m. on Friday, September 18.
