

DELCAMBRE – A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Amanda Ann Strother, age 39, at 1:00 pm Saturday, August 20, 2016 at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church. Fr. Nathan Comeaux will be the celebrant, with Fr. Thomas Voorhies as concelebrant. Amanda will be laid to rest at the church mausoleum.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at Evangeline Funeral Home in Delcambre on Friday from 1:00 pm until 10:00 pm, with the Rosary being recited at 7:00 pm. The funeral home will reopen on Saturday from 8:00 am until 12:30 pm.
Amanda was born November 9, 1976 in Lafayette to Catherine Delcambre Strother and the Donald Ray Strother, and passed away Thursday, August 11, 2016.
Amanda was a graduate of Delcambre High School where she played both Volleyball and Basketball. She then attended McNeese State University, received her Bachelor’s Degree in Early Elementary Education, and taught with the Iberia Parish School Board. To know Amanda was to know that she loved spending time with her family, whether it was at her favorite vacation spot in Destin, or watching her beloved LSU Tigers. She was a loving mother, daughter, sister, and friend who will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her. Rest in peace Amanda. We will remember your words forever, “I have loved y’all till my last breath.”
Survivors include her daughters, whom she loved dearly, Marley Emonti Mitchell, Bella Olite Mitchell and Berkley Elina Mitchell; her mother, Catherine Delcambre Strother; her friend and father of her children, Samuel Mitchell; and her brother, Brian Strother.
Along with her father, she was preceded in death by her grandparents, Euda and Olite Delcambre and T.J. and Beatrice Strother.
Serving as pallbearers are Jace Dore, Barron Dozier, Richard George, Carrol Leblanc, Spencer Mitchell and Derik Darby. Honorary pallbearers are Samuel Mitchell, Christian Mitchell, Mark Lewis, Wilmer Dozier, Jr., Anthony Mitchell, Chris Trahan and Mark Pouche.
