DELCAMBRE - Bonnie Morvant Cheramie, born on April 2, 1957, in Erath, LA, passed away on November 3, 2023, at St. Joseph Hospice Carpenter House in Lafayette. She was a sister, aunt, stepmother, and friend,. Bonnie was born to the late Leo Morvant, Sr., and Emmerine Broussard Morvant and was one of eight siblings.
Bonnie was known for her strong work ethic and her vibrant spirit. She made her mark in the community by selling shrimp and was a frequent visitor to the races at Evangeline Downs, enjoying the thrill of the races. Additionally, Bonnie was a proud owner of Burt's Lounge, a bar in Erath, LA, where she welcomed many patrons and created lasting memories for those who frequented her establishment.
Bonnie cherished her special friendship with Frank and loved spending time with him, often sharing lunches together. Her warmth and kindness endeared her to all who knew her, and she will be remembered for her welcoming personality and generosity.
She is survived by her siblings: Ronald Morvant, Errol Morvant, Leon Morvant and wife Sharon, Leo Morvant, Jr. and friend Devina, Cynthia Morvant Ardoin, Christine Frederick, and Katri Morvant. Bonnie is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and her good friend, Frank Ferguson, who held a special place in her heart.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Cheramie, and her parents, Leo Morvant, Sr., and Emmerine Broussard Morvant.
A funeral service to celebrate Bonnie's life will be held on Friday, November 10, 2023, at Evangeline Funeral Home in Delcambre, LA. Deacon Tim Marcentel will officiate. A gathering of family and friends will take place at the funeral home from 9:00 am until the service begins. A rosary will be prayed at 12 noon.
Bonnie Morvant Cheramie will be laid to rest at Migues Cemetery. Pallbearers for the service will be Leon Morvant, Trent Thibodeaux, Jacob Primeaux, Billy Morvant, Kerry Lange, and Scott Durman. Honorary pallbearers will be Eric Toups, Terrance Thibodeaux, and Patrick Pitre.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to St. Joseph Hospice for their care and support during Bonnie's final days.
Bonnie will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her, and her memory will live on in the hearts of those she touched throughout her remarkable life. May she rest in peace.
