ERATH – After a courageous 8 year battle with breast cancer, Ms. Carolyn was deservingly granted her angel wings on May 9, 2012. She passed away peacefully at her home, in the arms of Jesus, and was lovingly surrounded by family and friends, not only in her final days, but in the hour of her death, as well.
All are invited to attend a very special memorial service, in honor and remembrance of her kind and gentle soul, on Saturday May 19, 2012 at 1:00 pm at Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church, Broadway St in Erath.
She was the youngest of three children born to the late Nathan and Eula Trahan and was the much beloved friend and companion of Rachel Frederick and their five loyal and loving puppies for more than 15 years.
She is survived by her brothers, Harry Lee Trahan and wife Melissa and Johnny Trahan and wife Rachel; nieces, Jennifer, Claudia, Denise, and Ashley; nephews, Nathan, Duane, and Ryan; seven great nieces; five great nephews; and two great great nieces.
Ms. Carolyn was proudly employed by Ken and Greg Kingston of First Option Home Infusion in Lafayette for the past 12 years. She felt immensely blessed with her compassionate and generous extended family there and always hoped ‘every’ single member of her First Option family felt and would continue to feel the overwhelming gratitude and love that she always carried and will continue to carry in her very own heart for each and every one of them.
Carolyn and Rachel, along with their family and friends, would like to sincerely thank the circle of physicians, nurses, and associated care providers who worked together to offer her more time and a better quality of that time. We also want to sincerely thank the Heart of Hospice group for their heartfelt care and compassion in helping Carolyn transition from this world and into the next.
Carolyn will forever be remembered for her sweet, gentle smile and her lighthearted spirit that brought much joy to all who knew her. Her life would seem too short to many, but those who were touched by her spirit understood that the “quality” of existence far exceeds the quantity of time one lives. Her courage and hope reminded us all of the preciousness of life. She loved innocent laughter and enjoyed sharing that laughter with others. Those who loved her will use that shared gift to find joy each time they think of her.
She would like to be remembered as one who fought the best fight she could for as long as she could and hoped that her strength and endurance will serve to inspire her family and friends. She will be sadly missed by all who truly knew her.
In lieu of flowers, donations and condolences may be sent to Rachel Frederick, P O Box 288, Youngsville, LA 70592.
