Clara Delores Bowers Hicks

DELCAMBRE –Graveside Services will be conducted for Mrs. Barney Hicks, the former Delores Bowers, age 90, at 10:00 am on Thursday, July 14, 2016 at Our Lady of the Lake Cemetery with Deacon Tim Marcantel officiating.

A native of Bartlesville, OK and resident of Delcambre, Mrs. Hicks passed away on Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at Iberia Medical Center surrounded by her loving family.

Delores was born July 27, 1925 in Bartlesville, OK to Jay and Grace Bowers.. In 1942, Delores married Barney Hicks and the two settled down in the town of Delcambre. Delores was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed the simple things in life. One of her pastimes was going out to eat with family and friends and Piccadilly was always her top choice. Delores also enjoyed football, or more specifically, The Oklahoma Sooners. She always made it a point watch the game when they played. Delores loved to paint. She was a very proficient painter who enjoyed painting scenery and landscapes most of all. She will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her.

Delores is survived by her daughters, Sandra Viator and Bonnie Viator (Herman); nine grandchildren, Barney Viator (Julie), Eric Viator (Ellen Benoit), Jenny Dubois (Vince), Cheryl Fleniken (Jamie), Cindy Viator (Jarred), Charles Viator, Cheryn Frederick (Dwain), Darrin Hicks, and Kathy Hicks; and thirteen great-grandchildren, Brittany Duhon (Neil), Kailyn Viator, Taylor Viator, Logan Viator, Conner Dubois and sister Kelsi, Dustin Fleniken and sister Jamie, Bailey Viator, Evan Frederick and brother Payton, Jena Hicks, Austin Hicks, and Austin Lafont.

Delores is preceded in death by her loving husband of forty-six years, Barney Hicks; son Gary Hicks; son-in-law, Haywood Viator; granddaughter, Vicki Viator; and great-grandson, Andre Viator.

Pallbearers will be Barney Viator, Eric Viator, Charles Viator, Darrin Hicks, Dustin Fleniken, Logan Viator, Taylor Viator, and Conner Dubois.

The Hicks family would like to thank Dr. Hale and the staff at Iberia Medical Center, Dr. David Grace, I.C.U nurses Makenia and Brennon LeBlanc.
