Born on August 12, 1960, in Santa Paula, California, David was the son of the late William Cecil Cooper and the late Nancy Stevens Cooper. Raised with strong values of hard work and compassion, David lived a life dedicated to providing for and loving his family.
David was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. A hardworking man, he spent much of his career in the oilfield industry, most recently working with Fredericks Machine Shop, Marine Wireline, and Expro. When the oilfield industry began to decline, David never hesitated to take on whatever work he could find, always putting his family first. His beloved wife Claudette lovingly described him as a great provider and “the most wonderful husband and father.”
Outside of work, David enjoyed life’s simple pleasures. He was a passionate football fan, proudly supporting the New Orleans Saints and sharing his love for the game which he once played in high school. NASCAR was another favorite pastime, and Dale Earnhardt was his driver of choice. One of David’s greatest joys was spending time in the kitchen with Claudette, preparing delicious breakfasts and meals for their family—moments that will be cherished forever.
Above all, David will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family. He was the best husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend anyone could ask for. His family meant everything to him, and his legacy of love and dedication will live on in their hearts.
Rest well, David. We love you and will carry your memory in our hearts always.
He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Claudette Bourque Cooper; his children, Paula Stephens (Hank), Chris LeBlanc, Sr. (Danielle), and Shawn Thibodeaux; his grandchildren, Gilbert Stephens, Khristin LeBlanc, Chris LeBlanc, Jr., Aysia Thibodeaux, Emma Thibodeaux, and Riker Thibodeaux; great-grandchildren, Finn Vice, Aurora LeBlanc, and Ivie LeBlanc; his brother and sisters, Dean Cooper (Teresa), Carmen Peterson (Joe), and Kymbra Stolp (George); and a host of nieces and nephews.
