Ferris Frederick, a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 6, 2025, just two weeks after the passing of his beloved wife, Lucille. He was 77 years old.
Ferris was born on July 27, 1947, in Abbeville, Louisiana, to the late Joseph Frederick and the late Eugenia Davidson Klein. He was the only son of two children born to that union.
A lifelong electrician, Ferris dedicated his career to serving the Acadiana area. He began his work at Jefferson Island Salt Mine, later joined Stutes Electric, and went on to contribute to the Strategic Oil Reserve. He concluded his professional journey at All Phase Electric in Lafayette, where he eventually retired.
Beyond his work, Ferris led a life filled with simple joys and meaningful relationships. He and Lucille were proud members of the Bayou Carlin Camping Club, where Ferris served as both Wagon Master and President. Many special days were spent together at Ken’s Campground on Lake Peigneur, surrounded by friends and nature. Ferris also enjoyed woodworking, reading, and immersing himself in western TV shows and movies.
More than anything, Ferris cherished his family. His quiet acts of love, support, and dedication left a lasting impact on those he held dear. Even in his later years, he remained actively involved in their lives, always ready to lend a helping hand. His absence leaves a deep void, but his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. We take comfort in knowing he is now reunited with Lucille, and we look forward to the day we are together again. Until then, rest peacefully, Ferris.
He is survived by his children: Ferris Frederick II (Rosaline), Eugenie Frederick, and Terrell Frederick; his grandchildren: Tommy Frederick, Trey Frederick, Angeleigha "Shug" Davis, and Zalena Frederick; and his sister, Velva Frederick.
In addition to his parents, Ferris is preceded in death by his wife, Nativite LeBlanc “Lucille” Frederick.
Funeral services celebrating the life of Ferris Frederick will be held on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Evangeline Funeral Home, with Father Buddy Breaux officiating. He will be laid to rest beside his beloved wife at Our Lady of the Lake Mausoleum.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday at the funeral home from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services, with the Rosary being recited at 11:00 a.m.
Serving as pallbearers are Terrell Frederick, Trey Frederick, Clayt LeBlanc, Carmen LeBlanc, Carlos LeBlanc, and Brent Johnson.
