It is with heavy hearts and deep love that we announce the untimely passing of Hedy Marie Pemberton, our beloved matriarch and the heart of our family. Hedy passed away Sunday, October 4, 2026, at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Lafayette. She was 72.
Hedy was born May 3, 1954, in New Iberia to the late Huey Migues, Sr. and the late Nell Lancon Migues. She was one of seven children born to their union and was raised in a family deeply rooted in Cajun heritage and, most importantly, a love for family.
Affectionately known as Hedy Marie and “Maw” to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Hedy lived a simple life, devoted wholeheartedly to the people she loved. Her greatest joy was her family. She treasured every visit, every conversation and every moment spent together. Being close to their “Maw” often meant frequent visits that sometimes lasted well into the evening, and there was no greater happiness for Hedy than having her loved ones gathered around her.
Hedy was a woman who found joy in the simple blessings of life. She loved deeply, gave freely of herself and made her family the center of her world. Her presence brought comfort and warmth to those around her, and the love she shared will continue to live on through the many lives she touched.
Though we will miss her more than words can express, her family will forever hold her memory close to their hearts and cherish the countless moments they shared. Her love, her laughter and the memories she created will remain a part of her family for generations to come.
Rest in peace, Hedy Marie. We love you.
