Janet Hebert Dubois was born on September 9, 1946, in Lafayette, LA to the late Otto and Susie Leger Hebert and was one of five children to that union.
Janet was a loving wife, proud grandmother, devoted educator and cherished friend who touched many lives through her kindness, discipline, and joyful spirit. She dedicated 26 1/2 years of her life to teaching second grade at Delcambre Elementary, shaping young minds with patience, care, and a true love for learning before retiring after a long and meaningful career.
Janet loved traveling alongside her husband, and together they enjoyed many adventures and were members of the Cruisin’ Cajuns. She also had a passion for shopping and style—always impeccably dressed and “to the nines,” Janet took pride in her appearance and carried herself with grace wherever she went.
Family was at the center of Janet’s life. She was especially known for spoiling her grandchildren at Christmas, creating magical memories they will cherish forever. Her Sunday lunches were a treasured tradition, bringing family together around the table with food prepared with love and care.
Janet found great joy in gardening, and it showed in her beautifully kept flower beds and flourishing plants, which reflected the attention and dedication she gave to everything she did. A remarkably disciplined individual, she never missed a day of exercise and was always willing to challenge herself—often competing right alongside the younger women in her class with determination and good humor.
A faithful member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, Janet lived her life with faith, strength, and generosity. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Those left to cherish her memory are her beloved husband of 60 years, Trois Dubois; her two sons and beautiful daughter-in-laws, Troy Dubois and wife Tara and Vince Dubois and wife Jenny; four grandchildren, Trevor Dubois; Tori D. Jensen and husband Tucker; Connor Dubois and wife Logan and Kelsi Dubois and fiancé Landon Toups; three great grandchildren, Olivia Dubois, Beckham Dubois and Emmie Dubois; one brother, Garland Hebert and wife Kathy; one sister, Nella Efferson; her brother in law, Ned Miller and sister in law, Effie Hebert.
Along with her parents she is preceded in death by one brother, Kenneth “Kenny” Hebert and one sister, Charlotte Miller.
