Jedeon Sonnier

DELCAMBRE – Funeral Services will be conducted for Mr. Jedeon Sonnier, age 84, at 10:00 am on Monday, August 8, 2016 at Evangeline Funeral Home in Delcambre with Fr. Ed Degeyter officiating and Fr. Nathan Comeaux as concelebrant. Interment will follow at Our Lady of the Lake Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm on Sunday with a Rosary at 7:00 pm. The funeral home will reopen at 8:00 am on Monday until service time.

A native and resident of Delcambre, Mr. Sonnier passed away on Friday, August 5, 2016 at Abbeville General.

Born on October 16, 1931to the late Luc’ and Laurence Sonnier, Jedeon was one of seven children. He worked as a farmer in his early years before becoming a janitor. Jedeon enjoyed farming, gardening, and playing Bouree’. He will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his siblings, Ray Sonnier (Joy) and Isabelle S. LaPointe; eight nephews; and ten nieces.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Anna Lee L. Sonnier; parents, Luc’ and Laurence Delahoussaye Sonnier; brothers, Alton Sonnier and Curtis Sonnier; and sisters, Verna Sonnier Istre and Rosabelle Sonnier Dumond.

Pallbearers will be Micah Bonin, Joshua Sonnier, Johnny Connor, Wilsie Connor, Jr., Carl Benoit, and Billy LaPointe.

Honorary pallbearers will be Ray Sonnier, Kevin Sonnier, Albert Sonnier, Whitney Istre, Eddie Connor, and Raynold LeBlanc.

The family would like to give special thanks to the staff of Abbeville General Hospital, the staff of Maison Du’ Monde Nursing Facility, Dr. John Thibodeaux and Weston Miller, to the nieces and nephews who helped with his care, and to the his great nephew, Micah Bonin, who always made him laugh.
