During his lifetime, John worked in various jobs from tug boats, Rainbow Paper Company, the oilfield and lastly, his beloved Live Oak Gardens for 30 years. He will be remembered as a loving husband , father, grandfather and friend. John was a gentle, quiet soul who possessed the gift of patience with a special touch of humor. He loved the outdoors and took great pride in the upkeep of his yard and his birdfeeder making sure that all feeders were filled along with the birdbath every day. He had a great love for music and he enjoyed playing his harmonica and singing for family and friends. Above all, John had a tremendous love of God and believed whole heartedly to talk to Jesus only about your troubles. John led a simple life as his wants were few. He was a blessing to all those who knew him bringing sunshine with his smile. Our miracle, our love – sleep with the angels sweetheart! We all miss you terribly.

He is survived by his wife of 34 years Lucille Bertrand Colomb; sons, Michael Colomb and wife Pattie of New Iberia, Robert Colomb of New Iberia; daughters, Karen Dugas and husband Gilman of New Iberia, Susan Bird and husband Rick of New Jersey; step-son, Darryl Choate and wife Babs of Delcambre; brothers, Lester Colomb, Presley Colomb, Dalton Colomb; sisters, Velta Guillotte, Louise Landry; grandchildren, Mark LeMaire, Chad LeMaire, Devin Colomb, Brent Colomb, Claire Bourque, Sadie Choate, Coy Choate, Jesse Choate, Kate Choate; step-grandchildren, Scott Dugas, Shaun Dugas and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents Andrew and Annonciade Colomb; first wife, Ella Mae Derouen; sister, Irene Colomb Dore and Daughter in Law, Shawn Derouen.

Mrs. Lucille and family: It is with great sadness that we have learned of Mr. John's passing. His extended family in the memory care unit will miss him entertaining us with his harmonica and all of the songs he would sing for us. May you all find comfort in knowing that he now rests with his Lord and Saviour. Hold the memories of him close to your heart and let them be of comfort to you. God Bless you All~~Ricky and Jodie LeBlanc (children of Mr. Golden Richard, resident of Maison Du Monde Memory Care).
