DELCAMBRE - John Rayvis Trahan, 93, of Texas, passed away on June 22, 2026. Born January 24, 1933, in Jefferson Island, John lived a life built on hard work, quiet devotion, and a love for his family that never quit.
John came up working the land and the docks. He was a sharecropper in the sugarcane fields before making the move to Houston, where opportunity as a longshoreman was a little more within reach. He didn't have much formal education, but he never let that stop him from giving his family a good life. He worked hard, he provided, and that was that.
He married the love of his life, Beverly Simon, and the two of them spent 71 years together. John retired at 55 and filled his time with the things he loved most: hunting, fishing, and tending to his vegetable garden. He liked to joke that he put food on the table literally. That garden also happened to be his favorite escape when he needed a little peace and quiet, a fact his family knew well and respected. He married the love of his life, Beverly Simon, and the two of them spent 71 years together.
