Josephine Romero Comeaux

DELCAMBRE – A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Mrs. Isaac Comeaux, the former Josephine Romero, age 99, at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church. Fr. Tom Voorhees will be the celebrant and Fr. Nathan Comeaux will be the con-celebrant. Interment will follow at Our Lady of the Lake Mausoleum.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm on Tuesday. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 pm by the St. Anne Alter Society. The funeral home will reopen on Wednesday at 8:00 am until the service time.

A native and resident of Delcambre, Mrs. Comeaux passed away on Monday, November 21, 2016 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.

Born on November 26, 1916 to the late Demasthene Romero and the late Scholastique Babineaux Romero, Mrs. Comeaux was one of eight children. Josephine had a great love of being outdoors. She especially enjoyed working in her garden where she planted and grew everything from flowers to vegetables. Josephine was a very good cook. Every Sunday she would prepare a Sunday lunch for her family. Josephine was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She will be deeply and truly missed by all those who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her children, Floyd Comeaux of Griffin, GA and his longtime friend Kathy Rose, and Katie Reaux of Erath, LA; daughter-in-law, Lucille Comeaux; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 50 years, Isaac Comeaux; son, Gerald Comeaux; parents, Demasthene and Scholastique Babineaux Romero; sisters, Olamp Broussard, Lillie Darby, Irma Cormier, and Effie Comeaux; brothers, Edwin Romero, Isaac Romero, and Lawrence Romero; and son-in-law, Gerald Reaux.

Pallbearers will be members of the family.
