Joycelyn "Joy" Falgout Viator, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 26, 2025, at the age of 83. Born on December 30, 1941, in Delcambre, Louisiana, Joy lived a life filled with love, laughter, and a deep devotion to her family.
Joy's early years were marked by her passion for sports and athletics. As a young woman, she was honored by her peers as the "Most Athletic" in her high school class. Whether playing basketball, leading her high school as a majorette, or staying active in local bowling and darts leagues, Joy's competitive spirit and love for being active never waned. Later in life, she channeled her passion for sports into coaching a youth track team, sharing her knowledge and love of physical fitness with the next generation. Her love of sports extended to cheering on her favorite teams, especially the Atlanta Braves and the Chicago Cubs.
In addition to her athletic pursuits, Joy was an extraordinary cook who took great pride in keeping a warm and welcoming home. Every day, she prepared a delicious meal for her husband, Paul, when he came home for lunch, showing her constant care and devotion. Joy’s home was always spotless, a reflection of her love for organization and cleanliness. She was also a gifted gardener, finding joy in cultivating beautiful flowers and plants that brightened her home and soul.
Joy’s heart was as big as her talents. She was the loving and devoted wife of her husband, Paul Viator, Jr., with whom she shared 66 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they raised three children: sons Paul A. Viator (Krista) and Tom Viator (Lisa), and daughter Ann V. Aucoin. She was a proud grandmother to six grandchildren: Kristie LeBlanc, Kellie LeBlanc, Karlie Simon, Taylor East, Madison Viator, and Kelsey Viator.
She also adored her nine great-grandchildren: Dax, Mollie Grace, Ean, Nixson, Manning, Landen, Jolie, and Timothy, who brought her immeasurable joy and pride. She is also survived by her brothers, Louis Falgout (Candy) and Joe Falgout (Mary Beth); her sisters, Mary Camille Falgout and Ellen Falgout; and numerous extended family members and friends who were blessed to know her.
