Keygan Paul Luquette

It was once said that even the brightest lights will one day dim unto themselves and fade into the heavens above. On Friday, August 28, 2026, our sweet Keygan Paul Luquette, whose smile could light up any room, departed this earthly life and went on to his heavenly reunion with the grandparents he missed so dearly.

Keygan was born December 26, 1998, making his way into this world a full three months early and weighing only two pounds. But this tiny little fighter would grow into a young man who was always eager to be outside, staying busy and on the move. With his grandparents always a special part of his life, some of his earliest memories were made helping around the family barn, cleaning horse stalls and doing the same hard work as the adults. That energy and determination remained with him throughout his life.

Keygan attended grammar school and Delcambre High School alongside his sisters and “the girls,” as he affectionately referred to his cousins. Family members still laugh when remembering Keygan squeezed into the seat between all the girls on their way to school. He loved being active and competed in track and field, soccer and other school sports. He proudly graduated with the Delcambre High School Class of 2018.

Following high school, Keygan entered the Journeyman Program with E.P. Breaux, where he studied to become an electrician. He continued his career with Sorrel Electric, Gridic, and most recently with Dave Broussard AC.

But Keygan was never all about work. He lived his life to the fullest, never standing still long enough to let the grass grow beneath his feet. The outdoors called his name, and he was always ready for his next adventure. He needed no elaborate plans or schedules—just a full tank of gas, good company and a day to make memories.

With his prized Ford F-250 fueled up and ready to go, Keygan would set out with Kelsey, the kids and his sweet dog Bella for fun-filled days with no schedule and no time limits. Those spontaneous adventures created memories that his loved ones will treasure forever. There were friendly competitions at the bowling alley, rides through the marsh in the side-by-side, and countless hours driving golf carts around the barn.

And wherever Keygan went, there was a good chance his favorite artist, Lil Boosie, was playing. With that familiar smile stretched from ear to ear, he would sing along to every song, enjoying life in his own unmistakable way.

This young man, lovingly known simply as “Man,” filled the lives of those around him with love, laughter and joy. He had a goofy personality—and those who loved him mean “goofy” in the most loving way possible. Keygan was one of a kind, and his absence leaves a space that can never be filled.

His family promises to keep his memory alive and to share his story with his children so they will always know what a wonderful father he was, how deeply he loved them, and how much joy he brought into the lives of those around him.

Keygan, may your soul and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. We love you always.

Those left to cherish Keygan’s beautiful memory are his parents, Shella and Brad Derouen and Cody and Valerie Theriot; his children, Leighton and Logan Luquette; his girlfriend, Kelsey Duhon and her children, Briggs and Elee Babin; his faithful companion, Bella; his siblings, Emma and Nevaeh Derouen, and Bailey, Miles, Finn and Lilah Theriot; and his paternal grandparents, Patrick Theriot, Tonie Boudreaux (Ric), and Aubrey and Stephanie Derouen.

He is also survived by his uncles, Jason Luquette (Paige), Keith Luquette, Ji Theriot (Kelley) and Jason Romero; his cousins, Ashley Ransonet (Luke), Kylie Derouen (Brandon), Kelsey Frederick (Micah), Alexis Clement (C.J.), Gabrielle Simon, Nyla Guidry, Cooper Theriot, Patrick Theriot II, Kaitlyn Romero and Alexis Romero; along with a host of extended family members and friends who loved him dearly.

Keygan was preceded in death and is now reunited in Heaven with his beloved grandparents, George and Teresa Dale Luquette, whom he missed so very much.

Funeral services celebrating Keygan’s life will be held at Evangeline Funeral Home of Delcambre on Thursday, September 3, 2026, with the Men’s Rosary Group leading the recitation of the Rosary at 6:00 p.m.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. Keygan will be laid to rest privately at a later date.
