Leona “PeeWee” Broussard passed away peacefully at the age of 93 on May 18, 2026. Surrounded by her loving family, PeeWee gently closed her eyes to this earthly life and entered into eternal peace and rest.
Born on June 30, 1932, Leona was one of nine children born to Dominique and Stella LeMaire Derise. She was raised in Delcambre and graduated from Delcambre High School, Class of 1950.
PeeWee found joy in simple pleasures and cherished pastimes that reflected her caring spirit. She loved knitting, crocheting, and tending to her flowers. She was also known as an excellent cook and baker. Her family fondly remembers her delicious chicken stew, a favorite at family gatherings, and her famous sweet dough tarts that always completed a meal at her table.
Faith was a cornerstone of her life. She was a lifelong parishioner of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, where she faithfully served as a member of the St. Ann Altar Society.
Though she will be deeply missed, her family will forever hold her memory close in their hearts. May her soul, and the souls of all the faithfully departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Herman Broussard; her children, Kim Comeaux (Debbie), Sharon Baudoin, and Nicky Comeaux (Christina); her grandchildren, Leah Falgout (Jason), Quentin Comeaux (Heidi), Britt Baudoin (Mica), Sammi Mendoza (Cortney), Colin Comeaux, and Mia Comeaux; and her great-grandchildren, Ali and Zeb Falgout, Matthew and Finn Baudoin, Laila Trahan, Duncan Mendoza, and Huck and Sully Comeaux.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Fenwick Comeaux; her grandson, Colt Baudoin; her parents, Dominique and Stella Derise; her stepchildren, Brian, Mark, Rixby, Renee and Trudy Broussard; and her siblings, John, Wilbert, and Grady Derise, Louise Landry, Mildred Falgout, Josephine Migues, Janesse LeBlanc, and Dorothy Choplin.
A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating PeeWee’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, with Fr. Buddy Breaux serving as celebrant. Readers for the mass will be Leah Falgout and Ali Falgout, with Laila Trahan and Mia Comeaux as gift bearers. Following the Mass, she will be laid to rest in the church cemetery.
