It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Lilly Gerard Bertrand, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and lifelong resident of Delcambre, Louisiana. Lilly, 95, passed away on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at Maison DuMonde in Abbeville, LA.
Lilly was born on September 5, 1929, in Delcambre, LA, to the late Edes and Delzan Bourque Gerard. A devout and faithful Catholic, Lilly was a lifelong member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, where her faith and community played a central role in her life.
Throughout her years, Lilly was an active participant in various community organizations, including the Delcambre Shrimp Festival, Ladies Auxiliary, and Woodmen of the World. Her spirit of service and generosity touched the lives of many, and she was always known for her kind and compassionate nature.
Lilly’s life was defined by her devotion to her family.
She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, and a proud grandmother and great-grandmother. Her nurturing and loving presence will be missed by all who knew her.
Always impeccably put together, Lilly had a keen sense of style—always with perfect hair, makeup, and a thoughtful clothing ensemble. Her attention to detail and grace were admired by those who had the pleasure of spending time with her.
Lilly’s warmth, kindness, and loving presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her. May she rest in peace, surrounded by the love of God and the community she cherished so much.
Those left behind to cherish her memory include her four daughters, Jackie Toups (Wayne); Cora Bertrand (Kenneth); Lena Myers (Darryl) and Tammy Gordon (Ches); six grandchildren, Barret Toups (Cara); Tori T. Clemens (Tyler); Blaire Matthieu (Colby); Jonathon Myers (Ashley); Olivia Gordon and Flynn Gordon and five great grandchildren, Hannah Toups, Emma Toups, Liam Matthieu, Elizabeth Clemons and Jon Tyler Clemons.
Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Rex A. Bertrand.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, with Fr. Buddy Breaux officiating. Lilly will be laid to rest following the mass at Our Lady of the Lake Cemetery.
Visitation will take place on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm, with Deacon Russell Hayes leading the recitation of the rosary at 6:30 pm. The funeral home will reopen on Wednesday from 8:00 am until 9:30 am dismissal.
Serving as pallbearers are Wayne Toups, Kenneth Theriot, Darryl Myers, Ches Gordon, Barret Toups, Jonathon Myers, Flynn Gordon and Colby Matthieu.
The family would like to thank Maison Du Monde Living Center and Hope Hospice for all of their care and compassion shown towards their mother.
