Charles Matthew Pate was born July 9, 1972 in Montgomery, Alabama to Jo Ann Bilello and the late Charles Timothy Pate and passed away Sunday, December 22, 2019. He was 47.

Matthew, or “Bama” as he was known by friends, has worked in the oilfield with various companies in the Acadiana area. Outside of his work, Matthew spent his time outdoors. He and his best friend and companion “Browning” his award winning chocolate Lab spent many days hunting and relaxing at the camp. Saturday evenings were spent cooking or grilling for family and friends, playing cards and listening to Classic Country Saturday Night. Rest well Matthew and until we meet again.

Having had Cory and Jo in my life as friends, I was Blessed to have Matt in my life as well. Being around Matt, you always felt Special. He made me feel like family and always included me in Special times! I will never forget those times. He would always tell me how much he loved his mother and loved and respected Cory. Family was important to Matt. When he would talk of Brock, his eyes would light up. He was proud to be the big brother! He was never shy to show his love to the people he loved! He has left cherished memories with all of us that will last all of the remaining days of our lives! Rest In Peace Matt and now, You will not have to hear Coach K tell you to “Google it!”Fly high my dear friend and always remember how important and loved you were!

Sending the family and friends of Bama my deepest condolences. I worked with Bama in Brunei for 2 years, and believe me you get to know people pretty well when you work and sleep together!!!!!! In a staff house and offshore. I come from Scotland and we used to watch Scottish comedy DVDs at night, I can still hear Bamas laughter in my head, will never know how he could understand the Scottish accent. But that was just Bama, he was a good listener and a good teacher, l learnt a few tricks from him.
Bama I'm not sure what happened, but you have been taken far to early. Truly one of a kind, I will remember you for the rest of my life. RIP Donkey.
From your Scottish mate
Shrek.
