DELCAMBRE – A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted for Michael “Mike” Bryan Istre on Tuesday, April 19, 2022 at 3:00 pm at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church. Fr. Buddy Breaux will officiate. Mike will be laid to rest at Our Lady of the Lake Cemetery.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at Evangeline Funeral Home on Monday from 2:00 pm until 10:00 pm with a Rosary at 7:00 pm.
The funeral home will reopen at 8:00 am on Tuesday until 2:30 pm.
Mike was born on February 14, 1984 in Lafayette, LA to the late Eldridge Glen Istre and Patricia Hargrave Istre. A resident of Erath, Mike passed away on Thursday, April 14, 2022 at 7:16 pm at Abbeville General Hospital at the age of 38.
A loving son, brother, husband, father and friend, Mike was loved by all. He was employed in the oilfield industry for more than 15 years as a fitter working offshore.
He enjoyed spending time working on cars, motorbikes and doing mechanic work.
His true love above all was the time he spent with his family and his daughters, who meant the world to him.
He is survived by his wife, Shantell Billiot Istre; two daughters, Brianna Michal Istre and Paislee Louise Istre; his mother, Patricia Hargrave Istre; one brother, Marlin Istre and wife Candi; and three sisters, Jeri Marcel and husband Ray; Christine Verret and Rebecca Leslie.
He is preceded in death by his father, Eldridge Glen Istre.
Pallbearers will be Marlin Istre, Andre Jenkins, Barrett Stelly, Duce Billiot, Ace Billiot and Phil Flores.
