Rodney passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 2, 2024. Born on July 25, 1936, in Cow Island, Louisiana. Rodney vividly remembered picking crops in the field at a young age, working on a shrimp boat in his younger years, then going on to have a 37 year career in the oilfield with Kerr-McGee. He then went on to work for Texas Petroleum for 10 more years and made his final retirement at the age of 70. Rodney was a friend to everyone he met. He was very instrumental in getting jobs for people in the community with the companies he worked for. Only Rodney would pick up strangers on the highway, allowing them to drive his vehicle while he rested his eyes. His greatest love in life was being with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Mary Lynn Migues LeMaire of Delcambre; his daughters, Janet (Murray) Landry, Pam (Michael) Blakely; an adopted daughter by choice, Connie (Benson) Langlinais; his grandchildren, Shandi (Paul) Comeaux, Shalli (Cody) Trahan, Chip (Lindsey) Landry, Reece (Heather) Blakely, Chad (Jenee) Langlinais, Brant (Michelle) Langlinais, Linzi (Adam) Bowman; and his great grandchildren, Caden and Graci Trahan, Claire Landry, Elijah Blakely, Brayden Felix, Dane, Ford, Cohen, Genevieve, and McCale Langlinais, Alexa and Ava Bowman.
Rodney is preceded in death by his parents, Freddie “Black” LeMaire Sr. and Leonie Fevrejean; his siblings, Mary Lee Gnau, Raymond and Freddie LeMaire Jr; his in-laws, Antime and Marie Migues; and two great-grandchildren, Cale and Leighton Langlinais.
Pallbearers will be Reece and Michael Blakely; Chip and Murray Landry; and Brant, Chad, and Benson Langlinais. Honorary pallbearers will be Caden and Cody Trahan, Paul Comeaux, and Adam Bowman.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Hospice of Acadiana, Seth Porche RN, and the hospice staff for the great care he received. Memorial donations in memory of Rodney may be made to Hospice of Acadiana or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
