Roland Joseph Peltier Sr.

DELCAMBRE – Funeral Services will be conducted for Mr. Roland Joseph Peltier, Sr., age 74, at 1:00 pm Thursday, September 13, 2012 at Evangeline Funeral Home with Fr. Kenneth Mayne officiating. Inurnment will be held privately at a later date.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until service time on Thursday with a Rosary to be recited at service time.

A native and resident of Abbeville, Mr. Peltier passed away at 7:58 am on Sunday, September 9, 2012.

Roland was a member of St. Theresa’s Catholic Church in Abbeville. He was a longtime Mason which included serving as past Master of both the Jeanerette and Abbeville Lodges. Mr. Peltier was also a Shriner at the Habibi Temple of Lake Charles as well as belonging to the Coastal Shrine Club and 32nd Scottish Rite. Roland was known by many as being a genuinely good hearted person; he loved all people from all over the world. He also enjoyed music and boating. Roland began working in the Oil and Gas industry at the age of 17 and while starting at the bottom, he eventually worked his way up to a consultant. As a second career, he became a police officer and retired as a Sgt. and supervisor for the Vermilion Parish Water Patrol. It was his career as a police officer and serving the community that he loved most. Roland will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his wife, Theresa Suire Peltier; daughters, Ginger Peltier Boudreaux of Lafayette, Phyllis Peltier Guilbeau and husband Darrell of Port Allen; son, Roland “Joey” Peltier, Jr. and wife Samantha of Delcambre; brother, Steven Peltier and wife Mary of Erath; sister, Lois Bodin of Erath; mother, Mary Irlanda Peltier; grandchildren, Shane Boudreaux, Kayla Rodriguez, Lyle Boudreaux, Stephanie Landry, Seth Guilbeau, Teirrany Peltier, Trevor Peltier; great-grandchildren, Alyse Boudreaux, Ayden Boudreaux and Kylie Boudreaux.

He was preceded in death by his father, Alphe Peltier and son, Charles Peltier.

Honorary pallbearers will be Joey Peltier, Steven Peltier, Shane Boudreaux, Lyle Boudreaux, Seth Guilbeau, Trevor Peltier, Steven Peltier, Jr. and Jesse Rodriguez.
