It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ronald Paul Corner, age 85, of Delcambre, who departed this life on Thursday, June 26, 2025. Ronald was born in Kaplan, Louisiana on July 7, 1939, and lived a full and vibrant life as a beloved husband, father, grandfather, veteran, and friend.
A proud alumnus of Kaplan High School who excelled at both academics and athletics, Ronald was known for his sharp intellect and quick wit. He earned his degree in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Southwestern Louisiana (USL), where he made the Dean’s List, and went on to enjoy a successful career in the oil and gas industry.
Ronald proudly served his country in the United States Army, stationed in both New Jersey and Germany, and was honorably discharged. He was also a devoted member of the American Legion.
He shared a love for golf with his cherished wife Phyllis, often playing together at the Abbeville Country Club, where they were longtime members. Ronald also enjoyed reading—motivational books and those about Louisiana history—and remained a passionate sports fan throughout his life. A talented musician, he played the saxophone in a dance band and had a deep love for music and dancing.
Ronald is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Phyllis Dore Corner; his daughter, Jamie C. Hebert (Kris); his son, Michael Corner (Nichole); his grandchildren: Kirsten Patin (Kiley), Zane Hargrave, Max Hargrave, Paylyn Hebert, Alex Corner, Olivia Corner, Emily Corner; and one great grandchild, Kam Collins Patin; and his sister, Juanita Montalvo.
He was preceded in death by his father, Leman Corner; his mother, Inez Clostio Corner; and his brother-in-law, Joseph Montalvo.
