Born into a different century, Verdice lived a long and grace-filled life rooted in faith, family, and quiet strength. She was a devoted Catholic and an active, faithful member of Our Lady of the Lake Church, participating fully in the life of her parish through St. Anne's Society and the Catholic Daughters. She found joy and fellowship in her involvement with the sewing club, coffee club, and supper club, nurturing friendships and community wherever she went.
Verdice embraced life fully. She traveled extensively throughout the United States and abroad, always eager to learn and experience the world. In her younger years, she worked as a librarian, secretary, and marine operator, roles that reflected her intelligence, dedication, and strong work ethic. A lifelong lover of learning, she once read every book in her high school library, a passion that never faded. She found joy in gardening, sewing, mind-enhancing puzzles, and playing cards with her grandchildren. Verdice was also a collector of porcelain dolls, many hand-painted, and she delighted in creating hand-sewn clothing for them.
Even in her later years, Verdice had a remarkable memory, never forgetting a birthday, anniversary, or special date for friends and family members, and she remained tech-savvy, using her cell phone up until her final hours to stay connected with loved ones.
A woman of deep faith, Verdice found comfort and guidance in prayer and devotion, especially through her love of the Blessed Mother. Her life reflected Christian virtues of kindness, patience, and selfless love. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother whose greatest joy was caring for her family and sharing her faith by example.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Howard “Pim” Delcambre; her parents, Elie and Nelies LeBlanc; her siblings, Jay LeBlanc, Ivy LeBlanc, Mary Lou Laviolette and Paul Dale LeBlanc; her sons, Ronald Delcambre (Joan) and Daniel Delcambre; and her great-great-grandson, Liam Cole Delcambre.
