March 10, 1932 – October 13, 2020
Bebe Kagle died at her home in Parkland, Florida at the age of 88. Bebe was born in 1932 in Brooklyn, NY where she lived with her parents, three siblings, two cousins, and her aunt in a two-bedroom apartment in Bensonhurst. After graduating from LaFayette High School Bebe married the love of her life, Hal. They moved to Canarsie in 1960, where they raised their two children. During this time, the two had an active life, playing volleyball every summer and forming friendships that lasted throughout their lives. Bebe worked as a bookkeeper until her retirement. In 1993, the two moved to Delray Beach, Florida, where they enjoyed retirement, travel, and their extended family together until Hal’s death in 2009. Following Hal’s passing, Bebe continued as mentor and advisor to her children and grandchildren. She remained active, spending time with loved ones and participating in family events and vacations as well as traveling to be with family and friends up North. Throughout her life, one of Bebe’s greatest joys was having her extended family around her. During the years in Canarsie, it was not uncommon for out of town relatives to stay overnight in the small three bedroom home in Canarsie, with as many as twelve people occupying the bedrooms and floor space in the living room to spend the night. In later years, Bebe hosted her now enlarged family for Thanksgiving, albeit in much expanded quarters, renting large residences so that the family could enjoy being together with their beloved matriarch. Bebe will be remembered as a fierce protector of her family who enriched the lives of everyone who had the privilege of being part of her life, with her indominable spirit and unbelievably warm heart. Bebe is survived by her children, Helaine Metzger and David Kagle; son-in-law, Bernie Metzger, daughter-in-law, Susan Baylus; grandchildren, Nicole Metzger and Josh Rosenberg, Danielle Metzger, Nicole Leighton and Howard Wasserman , Rebecca, Oliver, Alexander Kagle and Laura Patino; great granddaughter, Zoe Wasserman; and brother, Sy Sippel. She is predeceased by her husband, Harold; siblings, Arthur Sippel and Doris Fox; and daughter-in-law, Pamela Kagle. The family requests that any donations be made in her name to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation.

Helaine: now I know where your beauty, both inside and out, come from: you truly are your mother's daughter! How lucky that you had each other! Helaine, you will be at peace because you were the best daughter to Bebe because she was the best mother to you! And so it will continue with your beautiful family.
David and the rest of the family: please accept my sincerest condolences for the passing of this lovely lady. I am sure each of you carries a bit of her spirit and grit: she will live on!
God bless you today and always.
