Carol was born on March 28, 1939, in Brooklyn, New York, to Sarah and Mac Benson. She grew up in a loving home that soon included her younger Brother Larry. Many weekends were highlighted with extended family of Uncles, Aunts and Cousins for card games and laughter.
After high school, she attended, Hofstra, and worked at the NYSE. She met her Beshert, Aaron Horowitz at a dance in the late 60’s and was soon married and living in Far Rockaway New York. They bought their first house and made a beautiful loving home in the Twin Rivers development in East Windsor, New Jersey in 1972. There Carol and Aaron shared an amazing 20 plus years, raising their two sons, Jeff and Ricky. They were blessed to have built lifelong enduring friendships with the Canterbury Court and Twin Rivers families. These days were filled with the joys of many Simcha’s celebrated as members of Beth El Temple of East Windsor. Carol and Aaron loved their summers at the pool, bowling leagues, tennis, mahjong, canasta and trips to Atlantic City. Their devotion was to build a Jewish Home, filled with love and a passion for giving their sons more than they had as children. They emphasized the importance of school and were very proud to see both of their children graduate college, build great careers and build loving families of their own, where they too could give their children more than they had. Every weeknight dinner was filled with conversations about their day, and most weekends were spent cheering for their children playing youth Soccer, Baseball, and Softball. In the late 90’s they retired to the Platina Community in Boynton Beach Florida, where they made new friends and shared a beautiful life with more time to relax and enjoy the simple pleasures of shows, dinners, games and more.
Anyone who knew Carol knew how proud she was of her four amazing Grandchildren, Courtney, Rachael, Ashley and Dylan. They were her pride and joy and nothing gave her more pleasure than watching them grow into adulthood. A visit from any one of them would either start with a delighted shout of joy from the surprise, or endless days of anticipation of the time together.
A memorial service will be held on September 16, 2024, at 10:00 AM at the Riverside-Stanetsky Memorial Chapel, located at 7205 West Atlantic Avenue, Delray Beach, Florida 33446.
