Dorothy Pratt Zwickel

Dorothy Pratt Zwickel, born in Fairhaven, MA to Annie Tootle and Frank Preston on August 9, 1924, passed peacefully on October 3, 2015 in Hobe Sound, FL. Formerly of West Palm Beach, FL. Dorothy was the loving and dedicated wife of William E Pratt, Sr., widowed; Charles Thomas, widowed, and Abner Zwickel, widowed. All passed away and all too soon. Dorothy is the Mom of and is survived by four children and their families. Carole and John Callahan of Delray Beach, FL; William E. (Bill) and Kimberly Pratt of Lehigh Acres, FL; Barbara and Chris Linkiewicz of Stuart, FL; and Susan and John Higley of Sherborn, MA. She was blessed with an extended family including Eddie Pratt (FL);Jeremy Pratt (MA); Jennifer Pratt (MA); Aubrie Smith, her husband Jeff and their children Nathan and Nolan (CA); and Nathaniel Higley and his fiancé Gillian; and Christina and Sam Higley (MA). Dorothy had two brothers, Jimmy and Clifford Preston, both deceased.

Dorothy was an amazing non-judgmental, loving and caring Mom, wife, and friend. She influenced and impacted each life she touched in a positive manner. Dorothy was a talented seamstress with an incredible ability to work magic with fabric professionally and personally. Other than being actively involved and keeping up with the lives of her children and grandchildren, she enjoyed playing cards, reading, travelling, good food, sunshine, music, dancing, and caring for others.

Dorothy’s high spirit will remain within all of us who adored her. The world was a better place because of her. She will be missed.

Her Funeral Service will be held on Friday, October 9, 2015 at 10:00 am in the Waring-Sullivan Home of Memorial Tribute at Fairlawn, 180 Washington Street, Fairhaven, MA 02719 followed by burial in Rural Cemetery, New Bedford.
